Let's Start your Fertility Journey Together
When should you use Acupuncture with IVF?
There have been numerous clinical trials showing that acupuncture has a positive correlation with implantation of embryos and increasing live birth rates. Acupuncture is frequently recommended by Reproductive Endocrinologists to increase the success of IVF treatments.
How often do you need to come in for fertility acupuncture?
A cycle of acupuncture for pregnancy is typically twice a week for 3 months, this is the most common treatment frequency used in clinical trials, both when combined with or without IVF.
Although Dr. Pema understands that the costs can be prohibitive (we do take insurance!). Our office is here to provide you with the most knowledge to give you power on how you decide you want to proceed. A 2018 Clinical Trial showed that when IVF was combined with even with just THREE treatments of acupuncture, there was an increased rate of live births from 15.94% to 42%. It also increased positive pregnancy tests from 27.53% to 53%. The protocol calls for 1 treatment on day 6-8 of stims and a treatment prior to and after frozen embryo transfer (FET).
What you need to do?
If you have started seeing a Reproductive Endocrinologist, please bring in all blood work copies for us to review. They will tell us about potential outcomes and how we should proceed. Please make sure to include your Antral Follicle Count (AFC), AMH, FSH, LH, and Progesterone levels. If your husband (or boyfriend) has had blood work or a sperm analysis, please bring that in as well.
