Hi Everyone,
I know a favorite part of acupuncture treatments for many of you at Pema Chen Acupuncture in Englewood, NJ are the 15 minutes of cupping and acupressure you receive. Looks like many Olympic athletes use it as therapy too!

American Olympic Gymnast Alexander Naddour says this about cupping, "That’s been the secret that I have had through this year that keeps me healthy. It’s been better than any money I’ve spent on anything else."

One of the neurologists in my office just shared with me this huge scientific review by Cochrane showing that acupuncture helps reduce migraine frequency and has less side-effects than drugs.

I know a lot of my patients have already experienced the positive results of acupuncture, and I'm glad more studies are showing it is effective!

Here is the article for all those of you who are interested: Cochrane

Dear Friends,
Last week a woman called my office requesting to see me for treatment because I was listed under "Best Acupuncturists in Englewood, New Jersey." Of course, I was ecstatic to hear this and decided to google myself, and found this happy surprise! This picture was taken during a Tenafly, New Jersey street fair that I was a sponsor at a few weeks ago, you can take a look at the link here: Bergen.com/Pema. Just thought I'd share with all my amazing patients and friends who have supported me and given me so many referrals these past few years.

Cheers,
Pema

Do you have high blood pressure or are you borderline high but don’t need medication yet? Changes in your diet can help.

In Chinese medicine, we frequently talk about the healing properties of food. Foods that are considered “cooling” in nature are useful for reducing blood pressure. Two easily accessible and delicious foods that have been shown in scientific studies to lower blood pressure include watermelon and celery. In Chinese medicine these foods are considered to be "cooling" and work to lower blood pressure, so eat a few slices of juicy delicious watermelon or a few stalks of celery with peanut butter for a protein packed snack.

Here is a bit more information:

Celery

Enjoy,
